It has been a couple of days since the last report of the Little Egret in Ottawa ... it may well be far away by now. However, I thought it worth mentioning that a few minutes ago (10:10 am) I saw a smallish egret flying south over Baseline and Clyde, relatively high. Unfortunately I was in the office without binoculars at hand, so I can't say whether it was the Little Egret - but I'm quite certain it was smaller than a Great Egret. A long shot, but perhaps anyone in south/west Ottawa should keep an eye on suitable wetlands nearby.
