Received a text from Barry Cherriere to advise of a Snowy Egret at
Windermere Basin. At present the bird has gone up one of the channels and
is not visible but it will likely come back out at some point.
Windermere Basin is off Eastport Drive in Hamilton. Scope is useful but
there should be oth
Howard Davidson and I checked Windermere Basin for the recently reported Snowy
Egret. It was seen directly across from the lookout, a bit far for
photographs, but the black bill, black legs and small size were easily
seen.Windermere Basin is off East Port Drive west of Red Hill Creek in
Hamilt
The Snowy Egret was back at Windermere Basin early this afternoon in
company with at least 5 Great Egrets. A noticably smaller bird with a dark
bill. All the Egrets remained at the back of the pond as far from the
viewing platform as possible. Heavy rain cut the viewing short.

If anyone is interested in an update, especially since this bird was only found
and publicized this morning, it was still present this evening at the back edge
of the pond at the location described in Cheryl's email below. It was out of
sight when I arrived and I saw it on and off from 6 to abou

Windermere Basin is located on Eastport Drive. The entrance is just east of the
Pier 25 South Gateway. There is signage at the entrance

One can access Eastport off the westbound QEW. The driveway to the lookout is
obscure. Watch for it on your right as you approach Burlington St.

Snowy Egret still being seen right now at the back of the basin, keeping
close to a Great Egret and though hidden in reeds for long periods, its
frequently moving around feeding.
Windermere Basin is accessed off Eastport drive in Hamilton, just past pier
26.
