Hi everyone, The snowy egret that I found Friday at Keith McLean’s Conservation Area is still present in the area but is moving around quite a bit. Yesterday, two observers had it land for 10 minutes or so in the conservation area but it wasn’t seen otherwise. Today, I found it with 8 great egrets on the mud in the northwest corner of the bay. I was scoping them from Rondeau Joe’s restaurant, just outside Rondeau Park. Eventually, the flock flew SW to the community of Rondeau Estates where they landed on the rocky point at the bend of Marine Park Drive. I got photos when I drove there and Keith Burk was able to get there in time to see it. Fisherman flushed them and they flew a ways along the shoreline to the SW where they are still visible from Rondeau Estates. Unfortunately, this is a long ways away and a powerful scope is necessary. There isn’t much public parking in Rondeau Estates but it might be worth checking there for this bird. Hopefully it goes back to the Conservation Area where it was originally found. Directions: Rondeau Estates Line is about a km from the end of Kent Bridge Rd. Turn right, follow it to Marine Park Drive, turn left and go to the bay. Keith McLean Conservation Area is a few hundred metres past Rondeau Estates Line on the left. Look for the sign and parking area. Follow the walking trail along the bean field to the corn field. Wetland to the east. Rondeau Joe’s is on the right side of the road just before you enter Rondeau Park. Lots of parking here. Scope the opposite shoreline. Good luck, Steve
