Yes folks , because of some car issues, I was able to go back to the VG Swallow
in Thunder bay on 3 separate occasions from 9:45 am to 2 pm today Thursday.
And on all 3 occasions I was able to find it.
Firstly , on the telephone wires just inside the gate entrance to the compound
named "Pool 6" by 5 very large boulders at the edge of the small pond. It does
not go to the box anymore.
Secondly, on the mud beach at the lake between the garbage tire and the drift
woods, again inside the gate to the Pool 6 compound.
Thirdly, flies around the bushy shrubs neat the Lakeshore and on the lake.
In all cases the Tree Swallows do not like her and shoo it off. It also
picked up nesting material near the pond and by the driftwood. It must be
trying to rebuild a nest.
To get to Pool 6 compound. Get to SOUTH WATER ST. , past the Marina Park
entrance. Turn on Pearl st over the railways toward the lake, at the roundabout
go right to a dirt road entrance that will lead you to the Pool 6 gate. The
pond is 20 m on the right, the beach/driftwood 20 m on the left where a large
outlet zinc pipe is.
Be patience it is very skittish on being upset by Tree Swallows.
Today I was there mostly with Christine Johnston, who found this bird
originally. She lives very close to this location. A few other photographers
came at different times.
