Two adults and one suspected second-cycle bird allowed for extended study from 1:30-2:15pm in the pond located SW of the intersection of Ira Needles blvd. and Victoria St. S. Gulls appear to be feeding at the dump, then resting on the roof of Sobey's...and then preening in the pond. At 2:15 some unseen threat put all the birds up (from both the roof and the pond) creating a "rain cloud" with hundreds of gulls. The suspected second cycle bird was interesting, with the back looking decidedly darker than the adult lesser black-backed standing next to it.
