Birders,

Today there was a dark morph western Red-tailed Hawk in Willow Grove, just
south of Hamilton, located at Hwy 6 and 4th Line. It`s a charcoal dark hawk
with a brick red uppertail. In flight, the under wing pattern superficially
suggest a dark morph Rough-legged Hawk. This is likely the same bird that
spent the winter here last year. I took many crappy photos today that are
definitely diagnostic.

Today the bird was observed calling constantly and chasing all matter of
corvids, larger passerines, and a young Borealis Red-tailed Hawk out of the
territory, so I think this stunning hawk will be quite stable if you want
to go and see it.

>From Hamilton, travel south on Hwy 6 until you hit a sign that says Willow
Grove. You will then come to 4th line, and the bird can often be seen in
large field east of Hwy 6. There is a large billboard in the field that it
sits on.
