Hi Everyone
Spent July 13 and 14 birding the Kingston area including Amherst Island and
Prince Edward Point. Despite the hot temperatures the birding was good. On July
13th visited Amherst Island and had a small number of migrant shorebirds
including 1 worn breeding plumage adult Stilt Sandpiper at the east end, KFN
property. Other species observed on the Island included 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo,
15+ Brown Thrasher, and 6 Eastern Towhee. Today, July 14th birded Prince Edward
Point area and observed an adult Brant, likely summering, among a group of
Canada Geese at Prince Edward Point. Other species observed included 5 Orchard
Oriole, 12 Brown Thrasher, and a Merlin. There were 20+ Yellow Warblers around
the point too. On the way back to Carp made a brief stop north of Napanee and
observed 1 Loggerhead Shrike and 1 Grasshopper Sparrow.
Good birding,
Bruce
