After seeing the Ross' Goose at the Welland Canal in Port Colborne this

Fisherville in hopes of seeing Short-eared Owls. With the snow coming down
pretty good and the light fading quick we were not sure we could make it there

Hi all,
On my way home from a friend's house, just after watching Team Canada win
our 14th gold medal of the Olympics, I spotted 7 short eared owls.
It was about 6pm (dusk) at the corner of Stoney Creek Rd and Haldimand Rd 66
just south of Binbrook. There very well could have been more.
Hi Birders,
To-day,(Sunday Jan 25) just after 5 p.m., Mary Dalgleish and I saw 4 short
eared owls in the area of Cuddy/Seed Rd, west of London. They were not to be
seen at 4 p.m. when we first arrived but did show just after 5 p.m. They flew
about and twice landed on posts for a better view. W
Hi all, we had one short-eared owl, and many horned larks in the manure
field opposite the raptor reserve on the 6th concession of fisherville on
Saturday. Plus a meadowlark, and a flock of red-wing blackbirds.
On the 7th concession, we had another four short-eared owls performing a

On Saturday January 20, between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon, 6 short-eared owls
were seen by myself, Caroline Walmsley and Andrew Ryckman. The owls are
easy to see and can be found in the various conifers near to the road. We
enjoyed watching them as they took flight and circled us before landing

Hey,
I had and amazing day of birding in Sarnia today. I started at Point Edward

Hi there,
I got information from a local birder who said on Jan 4, he found almost 30
NOHA, feeding over a few appropriate habitat fields at dusk (4:30 ish) near
Glencoe, Ontario, southwest of London. This would be an unprecedented number
of harriers using the same fields and unheard of in sout
At Fisherville today, I saw a parliament of short-eared owls (at least 9,
maybe more) roosting in trees, on the ground, and flying around. There were
also 2 pairs of rough-legged hawks, 2 red-tails, 1 northern harrier and 1
turkey vulture.

Today we observed for most of the afternoon a single short eared owl,
sitting along the fence line on the north side of Con 6, across from the

We hung around for quite awhile and were well rewarded with the owls in
flight - they(12 to 20) came out from the south of the
After a three week period of moving to a new house, working and having a

Hi Birders,
After checking out the Partridges at Brantford airport,
we were heading down to see the Short Eared Owls.
We found them, could not count them, but I estimate that
there were a minimum of ten flying around and perching.

I haven't been on the site or had a chance to assess the situation but it
seems common sense to me to give the Short-eared Owls the benefit of doubt
and avoid any potential disruption. Without further comment the following
