Cloudy but mild day for a walk in the owl woods. Boreal owl was perched in the

On Amherst Island this morning between 9 and 11 am, a Boreal Owl and a Northern
Saw-whet Owl in Owl Woods, and a Short-eared Owl just outside. No sign of
Long-eared Owls. Two male Northern Harriers and a Rough-legged Hawk on the road
into the woods. The Snowy Owl was along Fro
Birded Owl Woods for a couple of hours today. Lots of birders and
photographers over there will everyone being civil. The Boreal was only
about 4 feet off the ground; 2 NSWO's and half a dozen LEO's.

Birded owl woods today and located 1 Boreal Owl; 2 Northern Saw-whet, & 1

Directions: Amherst Island: Located 18 km. west of Kingston. Exit off Hwy.
401 at exit 593 (County Rd. 4, Camden East) and drive south to the very

Hi Birders,
After being told several times that there are no Boreals around I
persevered and finally found one in the SW section of the Jack Pine
plantation. The bird was about 3m up in a Jack Pine.
I am on the island as I type this and found 5 Saw-whets (2 in Pine

Just returned from Amherst Island where Karen and I found 1 BOREAL OWL
and 2 LONG-EARED OWLS in the Owl Woods. The BOREAL OWL was just off to
the east of the main path through the Cedar Woods after the bird feeders
and just before you get to the large clumps of white cedars on the
