Sorry for the late post. On January 1 there was a very late (for Ottawa)
Great Blue Heron in the creek between The Aviation Parkway and the bus
Transitway. The best way to access the area is to park on Palmerston Drive
and walk the snowy pathway that starts behind Epiphany Anglican Church on
We saw what appears to be the resident Great Blue Heron at Mud Lake in
Ottawa today...first time we have seen it this year. It managed to catch a
small fish in the small ice-free area.

This morning at 8.45 am I saw a Great Blue Heron flying west over Richmond Rd
near Rushmore Rd. This is the first Ottawa area spring migrant that I am aware
of, and the bird is going to find it difficult to find open water in the area
as we are still very much frozen over with
