Along with the "balmy" weather, another sign of spring, a single Great Blue Heron, flew over Jockvale Road heading west towards the Stonebridge Golf Course in Barrhaven. This is the first heron I've seen this year - maybe spring actually will arrive soon. DIRECTIONS: From 416N, exit at Bankfield Rd, turning right towards Prince of Wales Dr. At the light, turn left onto Prince of Wales. Turn left onto Jockvale Road at the first light. The heron flew over the road approximately 3/4 km up the road, near the beginning of the Stonebridge Golf Course & Country Club. Note: I work in this area, and some of the golf course ponds are still frozen. If the heron is staying in the area, it will likely be found at one of these ponds, assuming there is open water in the area. It may also be found along the Jock River, which is open in some places. _________________________________________________________________ Enter today for your chance to win $1000 a day—today until May 12th.
