Hi Ontbirders

Latest is that the pyrrhuloxia (still have trouble spelling the
name) is in good shape and that the property owners are hapy with
everything. Some people are bringing gifts of sunflower seed for
Walter and Elizabeth . In spite of their initial apprehension they now
appear to be enjoying the birders and now go out to talk to many of
them. Please try to avoid driviing in their driveway but this is
likely from those who have not heard about the feeder property being
off bounds. Both Reinhold pokraka and Joanne Reive ( West Elgin
President this year) have helped enormously and should ve given full
credit along with Walter for their oganization It should be a great
day there for Weather tomorrow.. And don't for get the varied thrush
at West Lorne. Wish I could be there over the weekend to see some of
you again.. Great birding and a Happy New Year in
advance. Regards Tom Hayman posted December31st at

Having just missed the morning appearance of the Pyrrhuloxia I spent four hours without seeing the bird. I left shortly after noon, but returned just after four. The bird returned to the evergreens beside the house within 15 minutes of my arrival and gave excellent views. It also spent time gleaning corn from the field in the company of a group of juncos, until a passing car forced it back into the trees. The only other person present took several good pictures (sorry, I never asked your name).

Eagle is 6 Km. south of West Lorne. Take 401 to the West Lorne exit and head south on Graham. Go straight through West Lorne and proceed south till you come to Talbot Line. Proceed south approx. 1/2 Km. and it is the first (yellow brick) house on the right hand side. The field is south of the house.
