Wanted to mention last Thursday a common redpoll was banded at the
Hilliardton marsh and Friday a large flock of snow buntings was seen by the
marsh. The marsh is located north of NewLiskeard which is about 5 hours
north of Toronto. Today a flock of about 50 pine siskins was seen in New
Liskeard. Even thought birch catkins may be low we have more mountain ash
berries and high bush cranberry than I have ever seen. We experienced our
best year ever for banding northern saw whet owls but have seen nothing of
the larger owls that have been reported in the north. happy birding.
