This morning I attended a trip around sarnia and Pinery PP with the Detroit
Audubon. We first headed to the Point Edward lighthouse where we saw a
common loon in flight and in the fast flowing water where the St. Clair
river opens were 3 adult female or juvenile and one adult male HARLEQUIN
DUCK. The male was in full breeding plumage. Very nice!

A quick stop at Sarnia Bay yielded a flying HORNED LARK. At Kettle Point we
saw 3 BALD EAGLES (2 adult, 1 juvenile) aswell as several Great Black Backed
Gulls. At Pinery PP we found few finches because of the mild conditions.
However, we did turn up a NORTHERN SHRIKE, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, 2 PINE
SISKINS and just missed a Purple Finch at the feeders. On the road we saw a
couple ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a RICHARDSON'S GOOSE in the Hiawatha racetrack
field and a SWAN (tundra or trumpeter) in a field.

The Point Edward lighthouse is at the end of Fort St.

Good winter birding,
