Shorebirds on Gull Island at Presqu'ile Provincial Park on Sunday, Sep 21, 2003 included: 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 3 WHITE-RUMPED SANDIPER, 2 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, 1 STILT SANDPIPER (Helleiner), and 1 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and about 10 other species. Three WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were also seen from the Island. Landbirds in the Park seemed low in number and not especially diverse.
The birds were observed by an ornithology class from Trent University led by Erica Nol, Doug Tozer, Martha Allen and Chris Risley, with help from Fred Helleiner, Martin and Alex Parker.
