Hello Ontbirders
Yesterday, February 8, 2004 I lead a field trip along the St.
Lawrence River between Cornwall and Prescott. Overall it was rather
quiet with little open water but we did see one male Barrow's Goldeneye
at Cornwall. Other interesting overwintering ducks included , 1
Bufflehead, 2 Hooded Merganser and 1 Red-breasted Merganser. The gull
numbers were very low with only a few small flocks of Great Black-backed
Gulls totaling 34. At least 4 adult Bald Eagles were observed along the
river. On the way home saw a flock of 500+ Bohemian Waxwings along Rifle
Road at Shirleys Bay and a Barred Owl along March Valley Road near
Kanata.

                                                        good birding
