Winds were light to moderate from the northwest early, becoming more northeast and then finally to southeast by mid afternoon. Observations: Although the watch started at the boat launch, most of the day was spent at Point Mouillee and was where all birds were recorded. The flight for the most part was overhead until the switch in the wind to the southeast, which predictably pushed most birds to the north. Highlights for the day were 2 Swainsons Hawks including an excellent view of a light morph juvenile, as well as 3 Northern Goshawks, all juveniles. The 2 Swainsons brings the fall total to 14, tying the single season high for the species. Also, the incredible TV flight continued with the days total pushing us well beyond the 50 thousand plateau for the season. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ The primary site used by Southeastern Michigan Raptor Research (SMRR) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
