I have had this happen with 3-4 goat kids this year. This is the first time
I have had it in any number.
The kids are all about 4 weeks old now and are fine and walking normal.
I think it may be just due to positioning in the womb, or cramping.
Was the ewe a smaller size?

We run 5 strands high tensile. All hot. High power fencer.
By the way, if they 'jump thru ' the fence , they are not 'grounded ' and
don't get any shock. Just like a bird can sit on the wire.

I had a QH mare that used to be with my sheep and goats. She was wonderful,
the kids and lambs would run all around and under her. The older bucks would
pasture with her and they would rub on her.
Now she is gone and I have another QH mare, who I think would be okay with
them, but my other mare

Barb,
I'm not sure if the same applies to sheep as what I have found with dogs in
concern to coccidia oocysts.
That is that they are only identifiable at the time that they are being
shed. The reading of a false negative (or clear of the coccidia oocysts) is
possible , while they are still there
Hope I am not out of line in posting this on the list.
I am offering for sale Blackbelly Hair Sheep breeding stock. All are pure
stock. No crosses. Not registered.
I have several ewes(1yr-4yr), ewe lambs and ram lambs, also One 3yr old
ram(beautiful, good natured)--all for sale at very reason
Most products that are being used for sheep and especially for goats are
used ''off label'' That means that there has not been extensive testing
done on those specific animals. (There is not enough incentive, $$$ to do
it).
So the drug company just tests for safety, side effects and residuals
sume you use it orally just

Carol,
Goats generally need almost 2X the amount as sheep for wormers or other meds
to be effective.
I use Ivermectin drench or Valbazen drench, dosage is on the bottle.

Barb,
There is a possiblity that the lamb is still inside.
I lost a goat a few weeks ago, I thought she had kidded and infact it was
her sister that did. Five days later we discovered her in 'labour' again and
after the vet's efforts to remove the dead kid, we had to euthanize her.
My vet recomme
A small "suction" ball is handy for clearing nostrils and mouth of
mucous.(found in the baby supply at the pharmacy)
I always have my Ketchum tagger and the little lamb tags.
Right after the lambs are born is usually the only chance you have to catch
them and tag them. Also, Mom is usually watch
