Hello folks, This morning someone on one of the sheep herding listserves posted the URL of a nice article by Dr. Mike Neary, extension sheep specialist at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. In addition to his expertise in sheep management, Dr. Neary is also well-known in the Border Collie world as a top quality stockdog handler and competition trialler.
http://www.littlehats.net/neary01.html This article has some excellent insights into sheep behavior in response to dogs and humans. The article also identifies differences in certain behaviors among the various hair sheep and wooly sheep breeds. Included in this article is a nice discussion of Barbados sheep as well as other hair sheep breeds. I thought you might find it interesting.
