We live in West Central Texas and use a white female Donkey for our guard
dog. She is not friendly around intruders. We did have a few infant
deaths this spring, but I think it might have been a sneaky coyote or bobcat
that snuck in at the periphery. He/she hasn't been back.
I was thinking that they probably used 2-4-D rather than
roundup. It's a very common herbicide, kills broadleaf plants but
leaves grasses alone. I think some people use Roundup generically,
in the same way people used to say Xerox instead of photocopy. I
wouldn't assume that 2-4-D is any
I don't have any experience with guard dogs for sheep, but I do know that
once a dog starts killing other animals, it could be difficult to keep it
from doing it again. So, just beware in case you can't stop the dog from
killing again.
