And now a third problem is fixed.
There was a manual update made to the patches/downloads directory by an
unnamed admin (not me!) that had the wrong permissions on a
subdirectory. That prevented the svn hook from updating the repository.

First, there was a change to general.ent that broke my install script.
I am parsing the entity downloads-root directly. It can't have any
