Hi Everybody,
686-pc-linux-gnu 2.6.20
I've upgraded my original "LFS" software,
glibc-2.3.4/gcc-3.4.3
to "BLFS" glibc-2.5/gcc-4.1.2.
I was curious about how compiled files compare under
the old system and the new (apples to apples) so I ran
a few (unscientific) tests to this effect.
Looks like t

Hmm, you can get the sources if you want. In fact, it's better to pull
them from CVS unless you really want the old XFree86-4.3 stuff.

Hi,
I have Xorg 7.1 and KDE-3.5.5 as normal desktop. And i installed tight
VNC using Xfree86. This created the Xvnc, vncviewer etc apps for me.
Now does Xvnc not read /etc/X11/xorg.conf or does it not support GLX?
On my normal desktop GLX is enabled, but on my VNC it isn't.
TIA,

Yeah, it's stinks. With your pppoe aliases in modprobe.conf, you could
try to write a udev rule to match on the device and modprobe pppoe. (I
don't know an

Yep, you need that one set, and not CONFIG_
hi,
relevant section of lspci output is
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 945G/GZ Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 01)

I think you probably need this one. If you have pciutils, you might
want to check the output of lspci.

hi simon,
i faced the same problem.the pam.d directory was corrupted and i could'nt
log on.i solved it by booting into fedora, and then rewriting the files in
the pam.d directory from the chroot environment.
this is a much better solution though.rather prevent a problem than fix it!!

Hello,
I encounter an annoying problem under my LFS system. I've installed
the PPP 2.4.4 package as described in BLFS and modular PPP support for
linux kernel 2.6.20.4 (all PPP modules including PPPoE). Everything
seems fine, I've added a file /etc/modprobe.conf which contains all

For anyone interested, Shadow 4.0.18.1 (just gone into LFS) has an
annoying little feature I've just discovered. If built with PAM, it
installs default configs into /etc/pam.d, which do things like *require*
pam_selinux.so. Basically, it'll break the PAM installation, giving you
a system without a
Hi,
You are building your own distro and don't won't to build JDK and/or JRE
??
Sun has realeased the source code for JDK under various licenses eg. for
developer, for personal use
etc. You can download the 55 MB JDK and build on your box.
