Hi
There is a hint:
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/downloads/files/utf-8.txt
It doesn't exist. I asked the administrators to remove it more than a
year ago because it is outdated amd misleading.
My apologies.

FAQ:
Hi Simon
I want to recompile my lfs system with utf-8 support, but I don't want to
delete everything and start compiling for 3 days, so maybe I'll try to
recompile everything in lfs starting from ncurses and then everything in
blfs.

Hi Andy
What nameserver are you using? Have you installed the bind server? What
do you have in /etc/resolv.conf?
You gave me the answer! /etc/resolv.conf was set up to look for the
university nameserver. Changing it to the ip address of the router made
things work 8o)
Many thanks.
Hello!
I'll submit this problem here, but if it ought to be directed to
lfs-support then let me know and I'll stop bugging you 8o) Also,
apologies in advance for the vagueness of my question: I don't really
know where to start with it!
In short, my problem is that in some situations I cannot

Hi again
I had this with a canon bjc4000.
Everyone told me I had the wrong ppd file. I never solved it.
I was printing locally, so I had other options. I went away and never
came back.
Well, in my case it was the 'wrong' ppd file that was the issue. I
noticed that on Slackware (where everyth
Hi
You can do the same thing in cups with
lpadmin -p jerrypc -m laserjet.ppd.gz -v socket://[ip_address].
The only trick is finding the correct ppd for your printer. The conversion
problem is pretty much the same for cups or lprng.
Cheers for your reply jerry.
But I think my issue is with
Hi again.
After doing some more reading, I think I'm going to forget cups for now
and try lprng instead. It seems you can specify a printer device as
socket://[ip_address] from its lpc tool.
But it'll have to wait for another day as lprng.com is not working at
the moment.
Ta again.

Hello!
I have a problem printing to a network printer (which
is a Kyocera Mita FS-3820N) on BLFS-6.1.
I am currently using CUPS-1.1.23, but I don't think
that this is a CUPS problem.
The issue is the following:
I try to print a test page from CUPS (or a postscript
file using lpr) and instead of

Hi.
I have built LFS 6.0 on an old Thinkpad (233MHz, 64MB). I have a PCMCIA
network adaptor (which runs of a standard 3COM driver) which I would
like to get working. However, I cannot find (either in lfs or blfs) any
hints on getting pcmcia startup scripts or the cardmgr utilities installed.
