if it was misconfigured, gnome or firefox should report an error, not to
crash.
I want to buy a Turion64 machine, your experience will be very useful to me

blfs-bootscripts-20041227.tar.bz2 should not
appear under folder ".../BLFS/6.1/".

I downloaded blfs-bootscripts-20050509.tar.bz2 a few months ago,
but BLFS-6.1 provides a blfs-bootscripts-20041227.tar.bz2,
is it too old? or which one should I use when building BLFS-6.1?

none of the above commands shows that port 8080
was listened by some process.
