Hi.

My LFS box, a LFS SVN-20070726/BLFS SVN-20070801, is now almost correctly
configured, thanks to the help of some of you. I have a few questions
regarding the choice and configuration of a MTA.

My box is something between a desktop and a server. Let me explain : I'm
connected to the Internet with a Freebox (an ethernet DSL modem), my box
does firewalling for itself (I work on it) and for my wife's, a Beurkdow$
connected threw another ethernet line, my bowes providing NAT services.
And I sometimes connect a laptop to my LFS box.

The only Mail app I use is Claws, and only on my box, which is up 24-7/7.
All the mail accounts of the familly are read on the same PC, and in fact
on the same account (I fetch mail for my wife and my daughter, who
receive a mail or two a week).

So I don't need a MTA for my mails, only for local apps. For example
fcron needs to send mails to root (or the admin), etc.

So my questions are : regarding my needs, what MTA should I install (I
tried sendmail and a few others on my previous LFS boxes, but I don't
understand very well what they do, so it's not very interesting), and
what configuration I should choose. I want to understand at least the
basics of this, to be able to correct anything wrong (in fact, this is
the main point for me to stick with LFS. That and the fun, of course ;-).

Can you guide me ?

Sorry for the poor english, and the length of the mail, I wanted my needs
to be understood.

Thanks.

\bye
