Ahem! Transfig is there and loaded, but

/blushing.

I was actually _wrong_ about xfig. I loaded the commands and the end
looked perfect, but it wasn't. Actually, nothing was installed.

If you are updating the hint. Uli, add Xaw3d to the essential
requirements. Make fails with the current version of Xaw3d(1.5E) on
xfig.3.2.4 and there is a patch on the Xaw3d site which applies with

patch < ../xfig-3.2.4-Xaw3d-1.5E.udiff

Going by your hints instructions then (i.e. putting that lot in /usr)
I get some funny endings, although I do have an xfig executable.

"make" comes to this funny ending
rm -f xfig.1x.html xfig.1x-html
rman -f HTML < xfig._man \
  > xfig.1x-html && mv -f xfig.1x-html xfig.1x.html
macro "nh" not recognized -- ignoring
macro "PD" not recognized -- ignoring
macro "ne" not recognized -- ignoring
macro "di" not recognized -- ignoring
macro "DT" not recognized -- ignoring
macro "Ap" not recognized -- ignoring
macro "in" not recognized -- ignoring

That doesn't look like anything fatal, so I tried make install which
does this

install -c xfig /usr/bin/xfig
install -c -m 0444 Fig.ad /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/Fig
install -c -m 0444 Fig-color.ad
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/Fig-color
chmod a+x,u+w
chmod: too few arguments
Try `chmod --help' for more information.
make: *** [install] Error 1

Make install.all stops likewise

make install.libs seems to go ok

make install.man installs one man page

make install.rhtml installs a pdf to /usr/share/doc/xfig (a file) and
every subsequent instruction barfs because xfig is not xfig/

The crime scene is preserved while I go off and try and draw something.
Let's hope they have something like a clock in the library :-D.
