Anne it is a very subjective question. you avg which I am using as well is
out of date and will update until the end of the year, I've used both avg
and avast, but my preference is avg. Other folks here will say avast.

I personally like Avast. The free edition will provide better protection than
the free AVG, for example. The programme is accessible once configured, and,
most of all, it won't slow down your machine like the free AVG does.
Actually, pressing enter on a .bat file, will cause it to execute.
The run box is not required.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but with

it's relatively easy to find using google.

Ah ha! Then it's a problem with the firewall in Internet Security. I'll now
pass this on to the folks using this package. Good luck in getting this problem
solved.

I'm listening to a program right now about Fire Fox. It's seems to be a
pritty good browser, does it work well with Jaws 9? Also are there
tutorials audio or text, to learn the keystrokes and the basics of the

If anyone is using Fire Fox internet browser, I would appreciate it
What versions of linux have you tried?
Ubuntu has it's own built-in screenreader called Orca, and while I haven't
tried it too much yet, it does work for some things, and if you download the
.ISO CD image of Ubuntu desktop version, you can actually test it from the
CD without actually

Yes it works great, but I have problems using the programs I already use in
Windows, like Skype, or a persian synthesizer, mudding (playing multi-user

support Jaws scripts provide for Windows. The other thing I

I'm not acquainted with that particular peace of software myself, possibly
somebody else on here knows more about it than I do. Normally I use Nero for

Fair enough.
Just that I had also tried implementing a VMWare version of linux at some
stage to try out some web hosting options, but I also couldn't get it to
work, and although that was a while ago, not sure if the newer version of
VMWare are much better, or whether there are alternatives,
Hi, welcome to the list. There's VirtualBox. The Windows version is certainly
accessible, and I've been able to run Linux with good results. Hope this helps.

Oh yes, just thought of another (simpler) thing.
If you're using Jaws, then Jaws key + Q will tell you the currently loaded

My Jaws 9 in fact says the name, and then spells it as well, and while it

You can also press insert q twice quickly and then read the announcement in
