Ask her to try plugging it into another port on her computer. Sometimes that will work.

Hi Albert, First when you say it isn't recognized do you mean it doesn't give you that sound you usually hear when a device connects? Or do you get that noise but just get no drive letter assigned to the drive? Also, have you tried other ports on that machine? If you get no indication that the device is seen, look in Device manager and see if the usb drvices have errors or if there is an unknown device in the "other" branch of the tree view. You can also rescan for hardware changes with the applications key menu when on the tree view. If the usb group is closed then there are probably no errors in that group.
