Not really important, but this morning when got to work, my laptop booted up
fine, but didn't really seem to want to cooperate too much with regard to
normal startup procedures like trying to open outlook, internet explorer for
webmail browsing, etc. etc., and things like jaws, NVDA, and even narrator
weren't really helping too much, so I eventually powered it off by holding
in the power button, since couldn't even get the shutdown dialogue to come
up, which have done often enough on various machines, but when I then tried
booting it up again, it just gave me 3 short beeps, and a sighted person
told me on the screen it was saying something like 'primary partition
failure'.
Anyway, technicians at work have basically now told me the hard drive seems
to have failed - not through any action I carried out - and they'll try
replace it, and see if that sorts out problem since am just hoping it's not
a larger hardware problem relating to mother board's hard drive/IDE support,
but let's see since it's their problem, not mine.
Anyway, at least it means when they reload or replace the machine for me, it
will now let me move over to windows 7, so let's see how that goes, and one
other nice, but unrelated thing was at least my bosses arranged an early
lift home for me since there wasn't much point for me to sit in office with
no computer to work on, and have my other 2 personal machines here at home
at least.
Stay well
