The other day, I rather stupidly decided to install the latest beta of MSN
messenger. I installed it only to find that it's been completely redesigned,
so it no longer works with jaws.

The only thing I can tell you is your contacts save them in a word document.
Then get rid of that one then find the one you've had before this one.
