Rofl, my mom wasn't even awake to remind me last time I flew by
myself (to Baltimore as well har har) and I remember it was my
first time ever at the airport and I liked to touch thingsh and
shtuffages.

I know what you mean. The summer before my sophomore year, my
friend and I
flew to Baltimore and back for the NFB Youth Slam. We had a
flight delay on
the way there, and a four-hour layover on the way back, and to
top it all
off, she and I were coming down with the lovely swine flu thanks
to so many
people getting sick at SLAM that year. But anyway, my mom was
freaking out,
like reminding me about so many things, which I naturally
interpreted as
nagging. That still happens, but I guess it's just natural of
them to worry..
And if I fly somewhere without adult supervision again, this time
with no
friend, hopefully she won't be as worried and reminding me about
little
things again. LOL.

Yeah, she says she worried about my sister the first time she did
things on
her own and she can see. I think all parents must worry, and even
more so
when their child can't see. I guess they expect the worst. I tend
not to
think about that and just go with it and if something unexpected
happens try
to sort it out. It seems to work, but probably not for some
people. I'm just
so relaxed about stuff when everyone else worries haha

That's quite understandable, in my opinion.

My mum sometimes worries about me. The first time I went to
london on my own

on the train she called me a few times to see if I was ok, I was
meeting my
sister at the station and it was fine. I can understand why she
worries but
she doesn't stop me doing it. My dad encourages me to do things
i'll find
difficult, which is probably quite a good thing when I think
about it. He's
quite happy about me wanting to study abroad which is lucky.

Haha, no I don't think they are. It's in two years anyway, so i
guess they
might change their minds. I'm first repeating my junior year
because of
transfering schools last september. My grades haven't been this
good because

of ajusting, so they should be loads better next year.
They've just said to contact loads of people at the university,
make sure I
get picked up from the airport and stuff. I'm really nervous
actualy. At
least it's an english speaking country though so I don't have to
deal with
that added complication!

Question, are your parents going with you or someone because it’s
a new
country and stuff and you’re a blindy? Don't take that the wrong
way.

The thing about UK universities is the programs are way more
rigid. For
example if you decided to do a BA in english literature it would
be a 3 year

course and you would take only classes on that 1 subject. A lot
of the time
in the US for your first year you don't even have to totally
focus on your
major, you can take other classes as well. Also in the UK you
don't share
dorms or anything. If you stay in housing on campus everyone has
their own
room and there is 1 kitchen to share between about 12 people.
There's far
less community and activities to get involved with. Also tuition
fees are
going up to £9000, which is almost what i'd be paying in america,
so I think

I may as well go there if I can because the experience will be so
much
better.

Well, I know no different, as I've never been to a British
university. But

from what I've experienced, granted I've been in college for a
year and a
private one at that, there's always something to do, whether it
be
homework, recreational shtuff, or studying. And, of course,
living in a
large city, or rather, going to school in a large city, it's
easy to get
around, as there's transportation. And, yay dorm life. Lol.

That sounds so annoying. No, those things haven't happened to me
at this
school, luckily my aid is really nice. When I was 6 I had this
aid who
would drag me across the floor if I didn't want to go somewhere
like to a
bunch of people I didn't like.

You're so lucky school's over! I have ages left.

I'm trying to reseqarch applying to US universities. Even though
I'm
taking my exams over here i'm going to have to take the SAT's
too if I
want to go to america for university. What are they like?

 1. Had your aid person blab who your teachers are to a
bunch of
people you didn't know.

 2. 2. Had your aid get in your face at the begging of a
class with
a bunch of people and yell at you because you told her boss
sorta that I
wanted to be independent on a project, and I didn't need her ass
in my
face, and then the whole class stared at me.

 3. Had your aid try to force you to sit with people even
though she

knows you strongly dislike them, and try to force me to partner
with
people because the person I was going to be partnered with she
didn't
like.

 4. 4. Get kind of pissed because your teachers do this
production
of how wonderful she is, and try to put me on the spot of how
wonderful
she is and stuff.

 5. 5. When you try to express your problems (the top
three) your
mother believes your lying. Or that she wouldn't do such a
thing. But over

all this year, I've kind of felt really humiliated and shamed of
her.
Anyone felt this way? And cheers for bringing the list back to
life,
maybe. And I'm out of school, so yea. Hopefully I don't have to
see her
for three months or so. And supposedly she won't be in algebra
next year
with me! So yea!
