My first concern with a cabinet for a dehumidifier is air flow. Setting one
inside anything is going to restrict air flow to the unit and therefore
efficiency. Also the tiles may collect some of the moisture and come apart.
The suspension idea sounds like one to consider, but balance would
Either that or put it on the floor with a rubber mat under it. As stated in
another post, it would also be more efficient on the floor.

Wouldn't there be a door leading down to the basement? If so, I'd make sure
it's kept closed at all times.

this is a necessary list and I am very thankful.
I've dumped lists that I found too chatty, or emotionally based. But this
list is far too necessary to everyday life for any person granted movement

Deepest thanks.

I think the original Sharp talking time one would do that if you happen to
have one burried somewhere.
Also how about a talking clock with three alarms one set for 12, one for
4 and one for 8. or whatever appropriate time.
Maybe you'd need two such clocks for am/pm.

Just a couple of thoughts,
Most battery operated devices contain a diode to keep current from flowing
in the wrong direction. Without this diode if the batteries are put in
backward the first thing that happens is that all the electronics cooks.
This creates a dead short on the batteries and while the user is trying to

However, I thought I read somewhere that the motor in an
appliance still has some affect on electricity even when it's not
being used, is not digital, and is merely just plugged into the
outlet. Do I recall that correctly?
No. When a motor is off, it's off. No current flows.
Thanks Max, I don't recall why that stuck in my mind. Although here's
a good one for ya. Many a year back in the townhouse I used to own, we
had a really interesting problem.

Bob, I hadn't thought about the mess
After a long talk with Harry at talking thermostats.com I installed the vip.
The reason that the service contract is void with a programmable is because
the technicians only use the round Honeywell. When/if there is a problem
with the programmable and they are called out at 2 in the morning
Max,
It might interest you to hear that the money identifier we just got today has a
feature where, installing the 9 volt battery polarized one way gives you
English and turned around it gives you French. Thus, the circuitry is
intelligent enough to switch.
