That's what I intended to describe, the pull of the cane pressing the wedge
shaped blocks into there sockets.
Yes, it sounds a lot of work, there is probably a simpler/better way.

My disclaimer is I don't know squat about cane chairs, rebuilding them or
wood working however I am pretty fair at repairing and resurrecting holes
that are no longer strait or round. With that in mind, would it be possible
to simply fit the appropriate diameter dowel in the broken out area secure
Also from my perspective of total ignorance of caning It seems to me that
repairing holes by inserting dowels and re-drilling would leave a very thin
wall next to the original breakout, and that this is where the pressure of
the new cane will be maximum.

sometimes probably.
Usually though the wood has split along the line of holes. It might be possible
to get some glue between the parts and clamp and maybe even screw the broken
part back, a lot would depend on the nature of the damage.

Larry, there is an old saying" where there is a will there is a way
and where there is a will there is relatives". on a serious side in
the past where a chair was busted , probably in a family fight. we
have glued in a towel to a perfec fit and two days later redrilled
that same hole but sli
I'm impressed! And no mention of billet aluminum chair rails or stainless
retainers! You can come out of the corner for a little while now... Just pack
the cooler while your looking for something to do...

Hi,
Does anyone know the difference between gel and soy candles?
I was just given a set of candles, but I really don't know the differences?
I'm assuming they burn differently?
Thanks.

Claudia,
I've not heard of either candle - just the old fashioned wax candles? I
take it you haven't Googled it on the internet - that's always the first
place I try. Wikapedia is a wonderful resource. Here is the link. Good
luck.
