Ron: I have some seriously powerful magnets I bought for who knows what
reason. I have to be very careful where I store them. So, what would
happen if you took a serious magnet, wrapped it in something thin, say
plastic and worked over your stone with it. Probably most of what you've
been sharp

I'd just wrap some sand paper around a file , that should work if you don't
need to remove to much.
