thanks for your welcome, I'm enjoying the list posts and the avalanche of 
information immensely.  Well done on your efforts to keep the list on track.

Yes, 240volts sure packs a whack.  I've been hit by it only once.  Once is 
usually it for most.  I must have been lucky and momentarily formed a minor 
pathway from active to earth, rather than become BBQ as part of a full 
circuit from active to neutral return.

since then, I've never personally messed with anything more than a 9volt 
battery!

Welcome John to our little band of repair people. That voltage you folks use 
is sort of scary to say the least, but then again I never mess with juice 
unless it's turned off first. I don't post much but I'm one of the guys who 
keeps this thing on track.
