I would absolutely not have anything to do with taking the tak apart
in an enclosed space. It undoubtedly has old oil and/or vapors in it
and either a torch or a saw could set it off very easilly. Wrong way to get rid
of it as remainder of home could be endangered as it
left too quickly.

Hi All,
We have an old, empty oil tank sitting in our basement; this thing is huge,
and we're told that the only way to remove it is to break it up into pieces
and carry it out.

Has anyone on the list seen a house built with oil heat from the ground
up? Nobody alive around here to tell me how they did this with the oil
tank we had. However I do know, the previous owner had oil heat and no
outside entrance so I am thinking that oil tank must have been dropped

Claudia . that would be a 275 gallon oil tank and it is probably
covered with surface rust. it should stand on four screw in legs made
of pipe. . do you have a outside entrance to your cellar / basement?.
it would take two good men with old clothes to take that out thru a
cellar way.
