Buy em in bulk and cheap use a heavy piece of wire to old it at the top.
It will also reduce splash and elongates as the lint is captured.
Do not let it elongate all the way to the drain.

It just barely made it up to the edge of the sink then had a 90 degree
bend. I took another piece of flexible hose and duct taped it onto the
end of the discharge hose hose that it reached into the bottom of the sink.

I do think that if you're going to place anything over the end of the output
hose, that you will have to check and clear it every so often, because, if
I'm not mistaken, lint and other particulate matter comes through that hose,
along with the water.
