As long as the threads are the same there won't be any problem. And since
you are considering a table, it might work better anyway.

On my drill press there are locking screws to keep the table in place. These
screws have wooden handles about 3 inches long. I do not have enough
strength in my hands to make them tight enough so that the table does not
move. I am wondering if there would be any problem if I replaced the screws
