A few months ago my wife accidentally hit the side of a spoon handle with a
sharp knife. This left a burr that would give one a serious cut. She was going
to toss it but I put it aside for a future small project and today I worked on
it.
I first used emery paper with some cutting oil to slowly grind down the burr.
I then cleaned and used some tooth paste with the sears rotary tool, their
version of a dremmal.
Smearing on some tooth paste and using the buffing wheel all of the scratches
were removed. There is a very slight indentation in the handle where the knives
cut. you would have to look for it to find it.
Karen is very pleased with the result.
The best part is that my grandson, unfortunately home from school, and staying
the day with us was able to help.
He is 9 and very mechanically inclined.
I brought up the tool case and found the buffing pad. I asked Christian to see
if he could locate the correct arbor to use. He had to get the book and in a
few minutes I had a buffing wheel perfect for the job.
There was a very small container of rubbing compound that was dried up. The
toothpaste was a perfect substitute.
