If it seems to take a while to get cool enough it may need a bit of

Interesting, I do not have an answer for you, but my ac did this same thing
over the summer. I thought it had to do with it being a new unit, and am a
little concerned that it may be a wiring problem. The guy who the owner hired
to do the work did not seem very reliable.

Mine has been doing that for years. I just go out and reset it. Common
causes of tripping are power surges or power hits, short interruptions of
power. These cause the compressor to stop and it isn't able to restart
because the pressure is very high on the outlet side.

don,
Don,
Is the breaker ground fault interrupted?
Sometimes you can have a fault or the trip becomes hyper sensitive or maybe
even a little moisture actually makes a path to ground.
In that case all you need do is change the breaker.

Don, A few years ago I had a similar problem with my furnace. The problem
was a weak breaker. Might be a simple starting place.

don,
If it happens just as the compressor kicks on, it may be a loose connection
causing resistance so that the compressor can't start as fast as it should
and pulls too heavy a load for too long thus tripping a slowblow
breaker.
Or the lines or breaker may just be a bit marginal for the demand.
I can say the best way to fix your AC problems, is to move north. <>
