I'd take the stupid door off, it's an accident waiting to happen. Maybe
just cut out the entire back of the compartment too. I'd bet much of the
several hundred watts computers draw these days goes up in heat, and it
gotta go somewhere.
Never liked this stuff of hiding the computer in a compartm
hi lenny
i would put the muffin fan at the top in the back pulling out and then take
the door off and cut a hole in the bottom and put a screen over the back of
the hole so it looks nice.
the heat rises so the fan should pull out the heat and pull in cool air
from the floor.

If you install a fan be sure to cut another hole for air to enter or leave
depending on whether the fan is drawing air in or forcing it out. Also be
sure that air exhausts at the top and enters at the bottom.

I have considered removing the door. The back panel adds to the stability of
the unit.

Lenny,

That's what I don't like about that style of desk. I don't know what the
manufacturers were thinking.
You've got a good idea. You will need some forced air flow to make this
situation work.

Lenny,
If the back of the cabinet is closed, what about just removing the
back panel? Or, how about removing the door so it is permanently open
and you don't have to wonder if they remembered to open it while in use?
