I don't know how to troubleshoot Transmission, and I can't recall if I
used Firefox to download the iso directly or used the torrent the last
time I downloaded Knoppix, but if I used the torrent, it downloaded
without issue via ctorrent.
Running
ctorrent path/to/torrent/file.torrent
will
I downloaded the tracker with wget, but transmission-cli couldn't get a
port it wanted to use so couldn't do the transfer for some reason. I
tried running transmission-remote --exit earlier both as user and as root
and wasn't allowed to do that since I hadn't logged in.

Try it in two steps (both commands as one line).
Download the tracker file:
wget
"http://torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/torrents/KNOPPIX_V9.1CD-2021-01-25-EN.torrent;
Download the data to desired directory (-w PATH):
transmission-cli -w ~/tmp
Interesting, I only got 1 for an error value and that's good to know for
writing scripts.

I looked around a bit. The latest knoppix (4GB) is from 2021.
Adriane Knoppix (the speaking knoppix (700MB) was last
released in 2013. Microknoppix refers to v 6.0 whereas
the latest Knoppix is v 9.1.
