There is a similar capacitor in the Collins 75S- series receivers that, when it
goes bad, the squeal starts at under 25% of the volume control advance. I have
replaced a number of those capacitors over the years.

Such is usually a sign of a bad electrolytic in the audio output stage.
Replace C-304 (20 mfd) with a 22 mfd capacitor. That capacitor is from Pin-3
of V-14B (6GW8) to ground.

units with Collins S-Line colors and changed the knobs to resemble those on the
S-Line.
Those units were popular with operators who wanted to use the Heath equipment
with their S-Lines but did not want to mix green
