OK, I got some useful inputs.
As it seemed, there was a metering problem.
I love radio forensics and got to use them here.
I won't give the gory details, but the PO had put a 1K resistor in series with
the meter.
It was not a factor reading B+, since the meter is fed from a 100K source.
It was a B
Any Clipperton users/experts out there.
I remember when they were the cat's meow, but I don't want to say how long it
was.
I just got an unmodified one, dusty but seems OK.
Funny thing is, it shows almost no idle current on the meter.
IN CW position, it draws 1.5A from the line in stby and goes up
