"Bicycleshedingly?" M'thinks t'will require ponderance. Anon.

seems another of those function/object dichotomies that's at the heart of
OOP to begin with. Queries are the main point here, but there's a sense in

y, was pondering, it bubbled to the
top.
To clarify what was something of (two) rambles, I think the issues that need
encapsulation in names are:
1) Distinction between path and directory
2) Asking for an object that may or may not exist; ditto its precursors
3) Default behavior in dif
x27;t really capture it, though. Problem here is
that you want the directory to exist, but you're describing the two
functions in terms of objects, on the one hand, and paths on the other.
There must be some keywords that would capture this. I'm
ename;" a filename is usually just the
thing at the leaf-terminal end of the path (and needn't be a "file," save as
a directory is often actually implemented as such), while the pathname is
the full Monty.
In the original scheme, I would think the problem with "create_directo
search data for multiple paths that may share a
portion of the search space, or is it something more esoteric, sort of an
algorithmic "variational" method, where you're looking for the best path,
but can also choose your start point?

sense?
If this seems really off-base, just tell me to shut up and I'll return to
lurk-mode. I would hope, though, that it might spark useful comments from
someone here who's thinking a bit more deeply than I.
