I have the same question. Register.com is expensive and sends moderate spam but, so far, is secure. Name.com seemed semi-incompetent when I dealt with them. Perhaps they have improved. I guess I am a prude, because I am put off by GoDaddy.com's ads (also seems like a spam risk). Who else
