Superpages.com is looking for a team player to work in a dynamic group of
developers. We are a brand new company (recent spin-off). Regardless we are
a large, profitable and stable company. The office is located in Waltham,
MA just next to exit 28b of I-95/128.
Both senior and quick-learning junior candidates are welcome.
You should have a creative mindset and passion to create great software.
Must be capable of asking questions and learning from others.
Position Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and support the SuperPages Enhanced Content Platform
application which heavily utilizes the DBI and LWP Perl modules for web
crawling and data-mining
* Develop and support publication workflows with complex logic
* Contribute to design and development of new systems and share
responsibility and ownership of the newly developed functionality
* Write code to work with data that gets presented to millions of users
on superpages.com
* Develop core technology, including the design/architecture of new
solutions and the refactoring and refinement of existing systems
* Contribute as an architect to multiple superpages.com projects
(Databases, APIs)
* Help shape the future of one of the 50 largest websites
Required Skills/Experience:
* Extensive experience with Perl
* Experience writing and debugging complex Perl scripts to interchange
large volumes of information with databases and web sites
* Good knowledge of and hands-on experience with DBI, DBD and LWP modules
is a must
* Knowledge of regular expressions
* Unix skills (tools and shells)
* Expertise in RDBMS, Solid SQL, PL/SQL. Data-modeling experience is a
plus
* Experience with information retrieval and analysis, data processing,
data mining and workflows. Knowledge of Java, servlets, and JSP is a
plus
* Work in both well-defined and ad-hoc prototyping project environments.
Ability to formally communicate architectural designs and plans is a
plus
* Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
or relevant experience in similar field
* Proficiency in Object-Oriented design and development
* Experience working with both developers and project/business owners
* Experience integrating open source technologies in application
development
Desired Skills/Experience:
* Participation in Agile development environment
Additional Information:
The Enhanced Content Integration and Aggregation Platform is a cornerstone
of search enhancements to IDEARC's SuperPages.com. The individual for this
position will enhance and support the existing platform and will be
expected to provide technical input on how to optimize and improve its
performance.
The individual will also learn publication workflow functionality and in
cooperation with current team members will work on critical workflow tasks.
