Ubuntu Screensaver

Started using Ubuntu only last week end, was looking at screen savers. 
Selected Colorfire, the example did not function and the computer 
crashed. Colorfire is now my saver, can not change, when I go to Screen 
Savers, System Preferences the I crash. Please advise-------------
