I'm actually only working on linux systems and not so familiar with MacOS. I bought a Macbook Pro in April and I'm just starting to figure out how things go here.
The first problem was a wrong configuration of the packager. For some strange reasons it didn't install all neccessary files in /opt/local/ etc though the files were in the package. The second problem was my fault. Within the binary "gnubg" there is a hardcoded path to the databases and neural nets. In the package before it searched these paths in my home directory that obviously doesn't exit on your computer. So I recompiled gnubg again with correct paths.
Anyway, I learned a lot. And I really appreciate your help and patience. Have fun with gnubg now!
