By default the GTKGLEXT doesn't support Quartz as a back-end.

sentence of this sub-section states Automatic doubles, beavers, and
the Jacoby rule are not used in match play. So yes it is your

Did you remove the files gnubg.html and allabout.html from
the doc directory of the gnubg tarball before trying to read them
in your browser? There is a folder of image files named images in
that same doc directory. That folder of images must be in the same
parent
